ABOUT THE PRACTICE
A Commitment to a Personalized Approach to Care
In founding The Center for Reconstructive Joint Surgery, Doctor Harwin wanted to create a joint treatment center where patients would receive the specialized, individualized care they need. Because each patient’s physical, emotional and financial condition is unique, Doctor Harwin believes that a personalized approach to patient care is best. All surgery is performed at the Beth Israel Medical Center, recently named a "Best Hospital for Orthopaedics" by New York Magazine.
At The Center for Reconstructive Joint Surgery, Doctor Harwin supervises patient care and performs all surgical procedures. His personal staff of orthopedic nurses, technicians, and physician assistants, as well as his clerical and administrative staff, share his commitment to personalized care and take pride in getting to know each patient individually.
Staff members are available to address patient needs, including scheduling, insurance, billing, and other medical services.
Patients and their family members are encouraged to ask questions and offer suggestions.
Bloodless Surgery
Doctor Harwin is also skilled at performing complex procedures without blood transfusions. He has served as Surgical Director of the New York Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery from 1999-2005.
Patients come to Doctor Harwin from around the world to be treated for complex problems of the hip, knee, and shoulder without the need for blood transfusion.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Doctor Harwin performs minimally invasive surgical procedures, such as rotator cuff repair, knee cartilage repair, ligament reconstruction, and partial and total knee and hip replacement, with specialized techniques and instruments that require only a small incision and significantly reduce postoperative pain, hospital stay, and recovery time.
Doctor Harwin works with a team of anesthesiologists who specialize in orthopedic procedures.
